Registro Italiano Navale has scanned its publications, over 140,000 pages, from the first book published in 1863 to present day, which are now available on a digital platform located inside the bridge simulator in the Shipowners’ Room of the Galata Museo del Mare and on RINA website.

Registro Italiano Navale, was established in Genoa in 1861 as the third classification society founded in the world at the behest of the insurers and shipowners of the time, for the purpose of carrying out activities related to the classification of ships and the safety of navigation. The Registro was the promoter of the first conference of international classification societies in 1939 in Rome and one of the founding members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) in 1968 in London. The Registro Italiano Navale directly carried out the naval classification, inspection, and certification activities. In 1999, transferred them to RINA spa, of which today it is the main shareholder.
