GRIMALDI HOLDING
Grimaldi Holding is one of the many entrepreneurial initiatives of Aldo Grimaldi, which today incorporates all the financial and industrial shareholdings of this “Dean of Italian Shipowners” who has been making his mark on the national and international shipping business for over 70 years.
In 1947, together with his brothers Luigi, Mario and Guido, he founded his first company called “Fratelli Grimaldi Armatori” starting with carriers and later moving on to passenger ships. Since then, his entrepreneurial route has continued unabated thanks to the specialisation and technological innovation of his ships, which he designs himself and that enable the company to anticipate the needs of an increasingly evolved and sophisticated market.
He created the “Liberty” class of carriers, Car Carriers, Ro-Ro Ferries, Multipurpose Ro-Ro, the GNV Cruiseferries, and the GH Ferry Cruise Ships. He is the owner who has lengthened (so-called jumboisation) the largest number of ships, by inserting midship sections as long as 26-30 metres. During his prestigious career he has realized over 100 Vessels.
M/N FORZA
The M/V FORZA is part of an eight-strong fleet of ferry-cruisers – the so called Navi Blu – which Grimaldi Holding ordered from Nuovi Cantieri Apuania for an investment of over 500 million Euro.
The brainchild of Aldo Grimaldi, these Vessels, with their extraordinary technical specifications, designed mainly for the carrying of heavy goods vehicles and featuring high-quality hotel facilities, soon became vital for the “Sea Highways”, a project to favour intermodal systems and to shift traffic from land to the sea, providing huge savings for the transport business, higher road safety and lower pollution.
Characteristics: 7 decks with 4 garage decks, 2,500 linear metre load capacity (1,000 cars), 30 camper van lots, 1,000 passengers. Services on board include a cafeteria, self-service, restaurant, piano bar, shops and entertainment spaces.
